PHANTOM SERIES FAQs

The Phantom Series is a fully ducted, self-contained wine cellar cooling system designed for medium to large wine cellars where aesthetics, quiet operation, and design flexibility are critical. The entire system is installed out of sight, delivering powerful cooling without visible equipment.

No. The Phantom Series is designed to be virtually invisible. All mechanical components are installed outside the cellar and connected via ducting, preserving a clean, uninterrupted cellar design.

No. The Phantom Series is self-contained and does not require an HVAC-R technician for installation. Proper ducting, electrical, and drainage are required, but refrigerant work is not.

The Phantom Series is engineered for extremely quiet operation. With the unit installed remotely and airflow delivered through ducting, sound and vibration inside the cellar are minimized.

Yes. The Phantom Series is designed to operate in ambient temperatures up to 110°F, making it suitable for warm climates, mechanical rooms, and challenging environments.

The Phantom unit can be installed in: Mechanical rooms, adjacent rooms, utility spaces, ceiling cavities, soffits, and attics, as long as ducting and clearance requirements are met. Placement is highly flexible.

The Phantom Series supports multiple ducting configurations, including top, side, and rear orientations. This allows installers and designers to adapt airflow paths to the specific layout of the cellar.

The Phantom Series uses a liquid-temperature bottle probe, which measures the temperature of the wine itself rather than ambient air. This results in more stable, precise cellar conditions.

Yes. The Phantom Series includes a KDT digital touch display that can be installed up to 50 feet away, offering remote monitoring, alarms, and advanced system protection. We also offer a 24V Thermostat kit that can allow your system to be controlled by other smart thermostats.

Yes. The Phantom Series is ideal for glass-heavy, modern, and design-centric wine rooms, where visible equipment would detract from the space. Proper heat-load calculations are required for glass applications.

Yes. The Phantom Series is commonly used in restaurants, tasting rooms, retail wine displays, and hospitality environments where quiet operation and hidden equipment are essential.

Yes. Optional features include: UV-C lighting system to help inhibit microbial growth, and condenser coil coating to protect against corrosion and extend system life

Routine maintenance includes cleaning or replacing filters, inspecting ducting and insulation, cleaning coils, and verifying condensate drainage. Regular maintenance ensures long-term performance and warranty compliance.

Proper sizing depends on cellar dimensions, insulation, materials, and ambient conditions. We recommend using WhisperKOOL’s BTU/H Calculator or consulting with a wine cellar professional to ensure accurate system selection.
